Step 1: Safely Disconnect Both Ends of the Spark Plug Wire. Before proceeding, ensure the engine is off and cool to the touch. It shows the correct arrangement from the distributor cap to the cylinders including the clips on the drivers side so that #7 do not run parallel to each other and cause crossfire since they fire in sequence. 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Re: Spark plug wire placement. The shortest and easiest way is to look at your cap. It should have a #1 on it near the top. That wire goes to the front plug, Going clockwise the next wire on the cap goes to the third plug, The next wire goes to the last plug and the last wire goes to the second plug. That is your 1-3-4-2 firing order.
